Synthesis of block copolymers of styrene and methyl methacrylate by conventional free radical polymerization in room temperature ionic liquids

摘要
Block copolymers of styrene and methyl methacrylate (MMA) were made by sequential addition of the monomers in the room-temperature ionic liquid [C4mim]PF6 using BPO as the initiator. The polymerization products were characterized by SEC, NMR, and DSC. As such, fractional precipitation experiments provided definite evidence of the formation of PS-b-PMMA block copolymers.
