摘要
The morphology of novel bioactive physical vapor deposited silver films was investigated to demonstrate their applicability as antimicrobially active coatings. Novel antimicrobial silver films were produced under specific process conditions. The films, exhibiting biological activity, contain a nanocrystalline phase material with grain size in the 15-nm range that lie on the surfaces of columnar grains. These nanocrystalline grains were observed when the film thickness was increased from 90 to 300 nm.
