摘要
In this paper, two novel designs are proposed for the optical AND and OR gate using two dimensional photonic crystal. In the input section, some defects are created to the rods for transmitting the light followed by ring resonator. In the output section, some defects are created to get the output. Ring resonator has coupling and scatter rods to get the desired output. The proposed AND gate has the contrast ratio of 8.47dB. The transmission power for the OR gate is 0.7. The optical AND and OR gate can operate at the bit rate of 1Tb/s and 0.33Tb/s respectively. It is expected that in future the designs can be used in photonic integrated circuits due to their small size and simplicity.
