摘要
The objective of this work is to develop an understanding of the fatigue life of composites (in this case, Cytec IM7/5250-4 carbon fiber-rein forced bismaleimide) at elevated temperature (150degreesC), room temperature, and in liquid nitrogen (-196degreesC). Cyclic life data from [90](T) and [+/-45](2s) specimens are presented as well as the quantification of transverse cracks in [45/0/45/90]s laminates. Emphasis is placed on the initiation and growth of transverse cracks, since their presence may increase the permeation of cryogenic liquids through the laminates.
