Pasteurella multocida meningitis in a man with a pet dog

Pasteurella multocida rarely causes meningitis in adults; when it does, it is typically associated with a history of recent animal contact or exposure. The clinical presentation and cerebrospinal. fluid findings resemble those of bacterial meningitis. We describe the case of a 44-year-old alcoholic man who presented with altered menial status, facial abrasions, and cellulitis of the right forearm. He had a pet dog that often licked his face and the wounds he sustained during frequent falls.
