The similarity and scaling of radiating arcs burning in a turbulent, axially accelerating gas flow

Similarity parameters and scaling laws are established for turbulent arcs in an axially accelerating gas flow. Turbulent energy and momentum transport is modelled using the Prandtl mixing length model. Radiation transport, including absorption, is accounted for using a specially adapted semi-empirical model. The accuracy of the theory is assessed using numerical solutions of an are burning in a supersonic nozzle.
