Densities and viscosities for the system, water + acetonitrile, have been determined for the entire range of composition at temperatures ranging from 303.15 to 323.15K. Density, excess molar volume, viscosity, thermodynamic activation parameters for viscous flow and some of their excess values have been plotted against the mole fraction of acetonitrile and fitted to appropriate polynomial equations. Results have been explained in terms of hydrophilic effect, hydrophobic hydration, hydrophobic interaction and dipole-dipole interaction.
