摘要
The mechanical properties and nanocrystallization behavior of rapidly solidified ribbons of Al89Ni6La5 alloy have been investigated in as-melt-spun, partially, and fully devitrified conditions. The growth of fcc-Al is responsible for early stage of crystallization. Microhardness of ribbons at different temperatures was examined and subsequently correlated with evolved microstructure. Significant improvement in properties was observed with the progress of primary nanocrystallization which is attributed to; hard La-rich shell around the fcc-Al nanocrystals and enrichment of remaining amorphous matrix by the solute elements.
