摘要
One of the most important oil world challenges consists of increasing the recovery in the mature fields through the control of water excess production, optimization of active secondary recovery projects, new projects implementation and new technologies incorporation. Gel technology is considered an effective method to improve injection profiles and wells productivity. In order to satisfy the Venezuelan oilfields needs, PDVSA Intevep developed a gel system (MULTIGEL (R)) which has been applied in more than 60 wells over the last 9 years. Two main applications were carried out. One of them has been addressed to reduce high water cut problems caused by natural fractures Channeling. For this application, the injected gels system was designed with Disproportionate Permeability Reduction (DPR) Effect, in order to fill the fracture walls, reducing the water flow and favoring the production of oil contained in the porous media. Another main application was performed in heterogeneous reservoirs characterized by high depth, high productivity and high initial pressure. The initial production mechanisms were rock and fluid expansion without a gas cap, but currently the reservoirs are under secondary recovery process, specifically water injection to maintain pressure and production rates. The gel injection in this case was mainly used to mitigate injector-producer channeling problems that bring over a poor sweep in the oil zones leaving important reserves without being produced. The Successful application of MULTIGEL (R) technology has been the result of three important steps: diagnosys, treatment design and injection of the system in the field. Wells productive lifetime has been extended and final recovery factor has been increased through the application of this technology
