HIGHER education in Russia: a 'Round table' on forms, resources and prospects" reviews a recently held discussion of the above problem by academics, government officials and university's managers. While educational space in Russia is undergoing intensive modernizing changes, an overall impression in that they take place unprofessionally, spontaneously without some key actors of education. Thus, respective Federal program for 2006 to 2010 appears to only barely touch many crucial issues faced by Russia's universities with a resultant cleavage emerging between the prospects drawn for the country's future and the essence and real mechanisms of the Russian higher school renovation.
