摘要
This paper considers the implications and practicalities of HVAC systems and chilled water systems in particular to operate on a CHP principle. The power generation and in particular the ship's heat balance is challenged to provide sufficient waste heat to operate water chillers. The HVAC chillers are challenged to operate without electrical power and operate with a steam turbine drive. The Naval Architecture is challenged to provide a structural method of chilled water storage of sufficient volume that will satisfy the HVAC demand for a pre-determined period. The design concept calls for a multi-disciplinary consideration to test the theory of an operating strategy that would realise very substantial energy savings. The paper sets out the design considerations from the HVAC perspective.
