摘要：
The title compound, C9H7NO3, was synthesized by mixing phthalimide with a solution of formaldehyde. Apart from the hydroxy group, the molecule is essentially planar. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak O-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds.
