Maxwell-displacement current-optical second harmonic generation (MDC-SHG) spectroscopy of organic monolayers

摘要
The Maxwell-Displacement Current-Optical Second Harmonic Generation (MDC-SHG) spectroscopy for organic monolayers has been described. The formula of polarization of organic monolayers with C-infinity,C-nu-symmetry has been derived, using the orientational order parameters expressed by Legndre polynomials. It is shown that Maxwell Displacement Current (MDC) measurement coupled with Optical Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) measurement is helpful for the study of orientational order parameters. It is also shown that this measurement is very effective for the detection of phase transition in monolayers, after deriving the formula of polarization of monolayers with C-s-symmetry induced by the tilting of the monolayers with C-infinity,C-nu-symmetry. Finally some experiments on the LC monolayers using the MDC-SHG measurement are shown.
