Actualization of the Internal Speech Problems in Psycholinguistics of Communication: The Results of a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

The purpose of the article is to reveal the role and functions of the internal speech in communication processes of the subjects of socially and personally oriented speech communication; to present a model of a communicative act, which is accomplished through the internal speech of addressees and recipients. Research methods. In the described research a new technique is used as a set of methods: (a) a systematic review of the original completed independent published investigations performed in the field of the internal speech of communication participants; (b) systematic analysis of the selected literature sources with application of its several varieties; (c) comparison and juxtaposition of the obtained data according to the selected criteria; (d) meta-analysis (combining of the results of several studies with statistical methods to test the hypothesis); (e) research synthesis (monitoring of the diversity of scientific research, explanation of different studies and their summarizing according to the selected criteria). Results. The author's method for research of the problem specified in the title of the article is offered. It is established that the internal speech is a meaning-forming component of generative processes that are part of communication as its components. The model of the communicative process as a two-way generating process is presented. It contains expressive and impressive speech components and is carried out by the mechanisms of spontaneous and mediated direct feedback. The study allowed to test and support the hypothesis and formulate a correct (based on a high level of generalization) scientific idea of formation the meaning role of the internal speech in communication, the benefits of modeling the communicative process with a generative mechanism for testing the results and identification of the important for communication patterns of the internal speech functioning, arising from numerous explorations, and for creation of communication technologies and systems.
