摘要
The emissions reduction in diesel and kerosene flames using a novel fuel injector called as flow-blurring in combustion system was tested in a swirl-stabilized combustor operated at atmospheric pressure. The test apparatus consisted of a combustor assembly and the injector assembly where the air enters through a plenum filled with marbles to break down the large vertical structures. The liquid fuel is supplied to the injector with separate concentric tube inlets for fuel and atomization air, equipped with an O-ring within a sleeve to prevent leakage. The experiment kept the fuel rate and total air as constant, and employed diesel and kerosene thereof. The results presented an increase in the atomization airflow rate that further reduce the CO emissions as the premixed mode of combustion becomes more prevalent. Reduction in emission can be attributed to the smaller droplets produced by injector creating an effervescent effect at the nozzle exit.
