Specific cyclizations: The total synthesis of (-)-amphidinolide X was accomplished by employing a SmI2-mediated 5-exo cyclization of an aldehydo β-alkoxyvinyl sulfoxide and a ringclosing metathesis reaction (see scheme; Tol: tolyl). © 2009 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
