Development of NaCl:Tb(T) as gamma and beta radiation dosimetry material

摘要
The present work involves extensive study of thermoluminescent behaviour of untreated and thermally pretreated, terbium-doped NaCl phosphors. It is found that NaCl:Tb (1000 ppm of terbium concentration) specimens, quenched from 750 degrees C, designated as NaCl:Tb(T), display optimum TL output with a dominant and well-defined glow peak around 200 degrees C. The study of this peak for beta and gamma radiation dosimetry indicates that the NaCl : Tb phosphors satisfy most of the basic requirements of an efficient TLD material. It is suggested that the present material can be used in beta and gamma dosimetry for the range 10(0)-10(4) rad. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
