High extinction ratio wavelength conversion at 10Gbit/s using birefringence switching in semiconductor optical amplifier

摘要
All-optical wavelength conversion using birefiringence switching in a semiconductor optical amplifier is demonstrated. The switched signal has an extinction ratio of similar to30 dB. A bit error rate of < 10(-9) was achieved and a power penalty of 2.5 dB was obtained for a 10 Gbit/s signal.
