A P300 Brain-Computer Interface Under the Hybrid Stimuli of P300 and SSVEP

In this paper, we investigate the feasibility of evoking P300 potential and developing P300 Brain-computer Interface (BCI) under the hybrid stimuli of P300 and SSVEP, and analyze the influences of SSVEP stimuli on P300 potential and the performance of the P300 BCI. The hybrid stimuli include the SSVEP stimuli, which consist of two chessboard images presented on a LCD screen and flashing at particular frequencies, respectively, and the P300 stimuli, which include nine characters located between the SSVEP stimuli. We apply the amplitude and latency of P300 potential and the classification accuracy and information transfer rate (ITR) of the P300 BCI to evaluate the performance of the P300 BCI under hybrid stimuli. The experimental results show that it is feasible to evoke P300 potential and develop the P300 BCI under the hybrid stimuli.
