摘要
The utilization of renewable carbon feedstocks e.g. CO2 or biomass for the production of fuels and chemicals presents challenges in chemistry and catalysis. This article discusses how current reduction methods and reductants able to cleave σ and Π C-O bonds by hydride transfer can be utilized for the conversion of organic compounds deriving from CO2 biomass or waste plastics. The successes pitfalls and challenges in the field are considered within the framework of sustainable chemistry.
