Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for the assessment of aortic stenosis

CMR provides a non-invasive one-stop assessment tool of the aortic valve, myocardium and the aorta, in comprehensive assessment of patients with AS without exposure to ionising radiation. It can be particularly useful in those with poor echo windows, for clarification of stenosis severity when there are discrepancies on standard assessment, for additional information on myocardial viability and tissue characterisation and concomitant aortopathy. This ever-expanding imaging modality may also play an important role in future risk-stratification and timing intervention in patients with AS. © Author(s) (or their employer(s)) 2019.
