Prophecy as 'Paideia' in LXX Amos 3:7

This is a study of LXX Amos 3:7. The Hebrew text describes the Lord << revealing his secret to his servants the prophets >> and LXX declares that the Lord << reveals paideia to his servants the prophets >>. Why does the translator render << secret >> as paideia? And what does paideia mean in this context? We address these questions by: 1) considering LXX Amos 3:7; 2) surveying recent studies of the meaning of paideia in LXX; 3) examining the use of paideia and its cognates in LXX Twelve; and 4) considering the references to paideia as prophetic discourse elsewhere in the LXX Prophets.
