Single Input-Single Output (SISO) adaptive control in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) using Model Reference Adaptive Control (MRAC)

摘要
A digital computer control system and the Model Reference Adaptive Control (MRAC) algorithm are proposed for improving the stability of the weld pool width shape in Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding. Several cases where the system parameters such as welding process current, travel speed (welding table speed), electrode stickout (wire feed speed) and weld pool width are changed have been considered. An infrared sensor was used to sense the value of the weld pool width. At the instants where the welding process is carried out, the plant parameters of the welding process are unknown. As a consequence, their values were predicted using the well-known adaptive algorithm of the integration of product.
