摘要
COEP - Microgrid is a project by the students of College of Engineering, Pune. It aims at establishing a Microgrid in college campus, investigating different topologies for energy generation from renewable energy sources. Project Microgrid has a Wind Energy subsystem connected on the AC bus, to generate power from wind energy. Out of various topologies available for generation of wind power, Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) system is proposed, owing to its various advantages over other topologies. DFIG has the capability of extracting maximum power from the wind turbine, with reduced power converter rating requirements and their advantages in terms of efficiency and overall costs. This paper presents modelling, simulation and implementation of DFIG system for wind power generation. It also discusses about a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm for maximizing power output from the wind turbine based on wind speed. Finally implementation of system is done in laboratory in super-synchronous mode of operation.
