摘要
The library of the 1st Marquis of Cenete, Rodrigo de Mendoza, was one of the largest and most ostentatious of the era, if not the largest among the contemporaneous noble collections, containing a total of 639 volumes covering a variety of themes worthy of an aristocrat given to Italian humanism. This study emphasises the extensive collection of religious books which formed part of the library (one-sixth of the total number of books), some of which were extravagantly bound, with numerous editio princeps. It also reports on the location of several of these copies and on the important work carried out by libraries to preserve and restore them.
