Nuclear magnetic resonance measurements were performed for high-pressure synthesized alkaline-metal-cobalt Laves phase compounds, cubic CaCo2 and hexagonal MgCo2. Co-59 ferromagnetic nuclear resonances corresponding to hyperfine fields of -15.7 and -8.0 T were found for CaCo2 and MgCo2, respectively, indicating relatively large spontaneous Co moments in these compounds in contrast to zero or induced Co moments in the rare-earth-cobalt Laves phase system.
