摘要
XML update support in data repositories is gaining a new level of importance since the use of XML as data format has been widely accepted in many information system applications. In addition to the capabilities of update, research on how the query update is performed is also needed. Safe update maintains the integrity of the updated XML documents, which can be costly. In this paper, we show how to improve the performance of the safe updates using a series of semantic transformation algorithms. The algorithms will pre-process the schema to preserve the documents' semantics/constraints. The information gathered is used to transform the update requests into semantic updates that can outperform the primitive safe updates.
