摘要
Nowadays employees are not willing to devote life only to work; they also want to create successful personal life. To harmonize professional career and personal life becomes a challenge for even greater part of society. Today's workforce at State Holding Company consists of employees of three generations. It is important to understand the main factors that determine work-life balance and job satisfaction for each generation. The research is based on the assumption that there are differences in work-life balance and job satisfaction. The goal of the research is to find out differences between different generations in work-life balance and job satisfaction. The research is concerned with the following questions: Do employees experience work and personal life balance in general? What is the personnel job satisfaction? Are there differences between generations in work-life balance and job satisfaction? The research has quantitative design, three surveys are used: survey about work-life balance and job satisfaction created by authors and Work Family and Family Work conflict scale by Netemeyer, Boles and McMurrian [8]. The research results indicate that the main obstacles for work-life balance are lack of time, workload and inflexible work schedule. Equally important for all generation employees is support from employer. Baby boomer generation prefers division of labour, reduced working week and part-load, while the X and Y generation respondents prefer distance working options, variable working hours and overtime compensation with free time. There are statistically significant differences between work-life balance for baby boomer, X and Y generation employees at State holding company, but related to job satisfaction there are no statistically. significant differences between these generations.
