The use of pendent drop technique with a tiny capillary to produce protein capsules of the size of a few micrometers was discussed. It was found that the assembled human serum albumin (HSA) microcapsules recorded with a fluorescence microscope are stable and can be considered to coat many species. The species responsible for molecular recognition such as proteins, DNA or antibodies can be bound to the protein film to create biological recognition devices. It was concluded that the species can also be used as synthetic microreaction vessels, as templates for the growth, crystallization and precipitation of organic dyes, magnetic particles or as carriers in drug delivery.
