摘要
In 2013, construction industry was one of the segments that most boosted Brazil's economic development. The 2011 occupational accidents recorded statistics increased by a rate of 6.9%. This was specifically relevant in the circular saw operation, where carpenters had the upper limbs exposed to potential injuries and fractures. The Brazilian legislation regulates collective and individual protection measures and also establishes management and training programs for employee's accident prevention. However these are not sufficient to reduce significantly statistics of workplace accidents, thus creating a social cost for the country. From this context, this work stresses needs of investments in a broad sense in order to establish advances in health, wellness, life quality and social aspects of construction industry employees, more specifically in carpentry field. For that, the research is focused in identify specific needs of carpentry work in order to establish parameters for machine, protection devices, methods and work processes innovations.
