摘要
FORSETI is a system that uses Case-based reasoning applied to penal Law. It has two functional modes: the expert mode and the tutorial mode. In the first mode, it must use it's knowledge in order to resolve new cases, i.e. to determine a sentence (emprisonment, delay before request of conditional liberation, etc.) Canadian jurisprudence of similar cases to the one presented to it is the base for its judgment. The expert may also consult the case base in order to corroborate the obtained result and supply the base with new cases. The second mode is an educational tool for professionals in penal law. In this mode, two types of exercises are possible. The first one uses on developing the ability to analyze jurisprudence. The second focuses on developing the user's judgement on determining sentences. FORSETI uses an experimental method for adaptation that we call planar interpolation. The goal of this method is to improve the level of consistency in the knowledge base and to produce significant results in adaptation of new cases.
