Low-temperature magnetic and transport properties of layered SrxCoO2

摘要
A series of polycrystalline samples of SrxCoO2 (0.15 <= x <= 0.40) have been prepared by a low-temperature ion exchange technique. These SrxCoO2 samples are isomorphic to NaxCoO2 with the hexagonal structure, but behave differently from NaxCoO2 with the change of cation concentration. For all the samples, the magnetic susceptibility decreases with increasing temperature and shows a Curie-Weiss behavior at high temperatures. The low-temperature magnetic susceptibility can be changed considerably by an applied field. The specific-heat coefficient gamma=C/T of SrxCoO2 as a function of T-2 turns downwards at low temperatures. This is different from the upturn behavior of low-temperature gamma in NaxCoO2. The resistivity of SrxCoO2 changes significantly with the strontium content x. An insulating to metallic crossover or transition is observed with increasing x.
