摘要
This paper examines the ownership structure and performance of 32 samples of 14 joint-stock commercial banks in China between 2001-2004. The results suggest that: (i) On average, banks chosen for the variation in ownership have a higher efficiency. (ii) Banks with comparative ownership controller are efficient (no matter who is the controller). (iii) The assets and net income growth have improvements in profitability and a negative effect on credit risk exposure.
