The proliferation of strategic partnering agreements in the global marketplace has been fraught with uneven performance outcomes. By some accounts, strategic alliance failure rates range between 60 percent and 80 percent, depending on the nature and scope of the alliance. Yet, alliance survivors boast extraordinary ROIs and market share gains. Certainly, strategic partnering agreements are no panacea for marketplace success. This admonition has not deterred global logistics companies from developing the greatest number of strategic partnering agreements in the industry's history.
