Proposal for an improved classification system for cavernous sinus dural arteriovenous fistula (CS-DAVF)

The author proposes a new classification system for CS-DAVF (indirect caroticocavernous fistula), which may stand alone or be incorporated into the existing Cognard system of classification for DAVF. The proposed classification system has distinct advantages over existing systems in that it more accurately reflects the morphology and hemodynamics of the lesion being described, and in doing so, provides the interventionalist with insight into the possible preferred treatment route and treatment urgency for a given lesion.
