摘要
The end-to-end latency information in networks is valuable to many applications and services with Quality of Service (QoS) requirements, such as telecommunication, power utility, automation, and financial systems. To meet their requirements, there are increasing demands to achieve higher accurate latency measurements and higher precise resolution than ever before. This paper proposes a PTP-based out-of-band direct end-to-end latency measurement, which can achieve measurement precision of end-to-end latency measurements in packet-based networks with uncertainty in tens of nanoseconds. This is a significant improvement over the state-of-the-art solutions with microsecond precision.
