Shape-memory effect in titanium-nickel after preliminary dynamic deformation

摘要
A comparative study of mechanical proper-ties and shape memory characteristics of the Ti-Ni alloy subjected to both quasi-static and impact loading is reported. After the impact compression up to deformation of 5-6% the strain recovered due to the shape memory effect and two-way shape memory effect is larger than that after the quasi-static loading. However, at larger deformation (>5-6%), the reverse relation is observed, that is, the dynamic loading results in a smaller reversible deformation in the course of martensitic transformations. An explanation of the experimental data is given by using the ideas of the possibility of different deformation mechanisms and processes occurring in the alloy.
