Wavelength tunable passively mode-locked bismuth oxide-based erbium-doped fiber laser

摘要
The broadband gain of bismuth oxide-based erbium-doped fiber has been used to obtain wavelength-tunable mode-locking over a 30 nm range from 1570 to 1600 nm. Passive mode-locking using a proton-bombarded semiconductor saturable absorber mirror produces 2.2-ps pulses at a repetition rate of 17 MHz. After external frequency chirp compensation, 288-fs pulses are obtained at 1600 nm. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
