摘要
Objective: The purpose of the research is to evaluate the effect of presenteeism on job performance (task performance and contextual performance). Methods: The research is conducted with the involvement of doctors and nurses working in Kastamonu Dr. Munif Islamoglu State Hospital with getting the required permissions. For collecting the data of the research, questionnaire technique is used. In the questionnaire, "Stanford Presenteeism Scale (SPS-6)" is used to identify the presenteeism tendency of the participants. Furthermore, "Job Performance Scale" is used to determine their job performance. The hypotheses of the research were tested with correlation analysis and regression analysis. Results: The findings reveal the effect of presenteeism on job performance in terms of task performance and contextual performance. Contrary to what was expected, it was determined that presenteeism had a significant and positive effect on job performance and task performance and contextual performance as its dimensions in the sample subject to the study. Conclusion: Within the versatile and complex structure of the relationship between presenteeism and performance, the findings obtained from this research emphasize the positive effect of presenteeism on job performance. The positive relationship between presenteeism and performance should not eliminate the fact that presenteeism is treated as a problem.
