I survey the publications of Wis Comfort whose main subject was either the Stone-Cech compactification of a completely regular Hausdorff space or the set of ultrafilters on a given set. These areas are tied together by the fact that if X is a discrete space, its Stone-Cech compactification can be viewed as the set of ultrafilters on X. (C) 2019 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
