摘要
The Cu metal is selected as interlayer between ZnO and Al2O3 to make ZnO/Cu/Al2O3 sandwich structure films. The construction of energy band diagram of the sandwich structures is based on experimental results to explain the effect of Cu interlayer on the PL emission of ZnO. The PL intensity of ZnO/Cu/Al2O3 sandwich structure decreases as compared to ZnO/Al2O3 films. We proposed that visible emission related with the shallow donor defects in ZnO are absorbed by the Cu interlayer resulting in the decrease of both violet and blue emission in the ZnO/Cu/Al2O3 sandwich structure. In addition, all the emission intensity further decreases as ZnO/Cu/Al2O3 sandwich structure is annealed. Annealing treatment will excite the absorbed electrons in Cu interlayer to reach the conduction band of ZnO side. At the same time, it improves crystal quality and reduces the defect concentration which causes a further decrease of visible emission.
