摘要
This article provides an overview of the incidence, mortality, and survival rates as well as the stage distribution at diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma in Germany. The results are based on data from the population-based cancer registries of the federal states, which are merged and analyzed at the federal level by the German Centre for Cancer Registry Data (ZfKD). In 2014, approximately 14,860 cases of renal cell carcinoma were diagnosed among adults; 5430 were women. In 2016, 5348 people died from this cause according to official statistics on causes of death. Age-standardized incidence rates have remained fairly constant for both sexes since 1999, although the incidence rates for men are twice as high as for women. Age-standardized mortality rates present aslight decrease for men and women. There are no major differences between the sexes with respect to stage distribution at diagnosis and survival prospects. Survival rates differ according to stage of the diagnosed tumor: five-year survival rates are between 95% (UICC stageI) and 17% (UICC stageIV with distant metastases).
