摘要
The main subject of this paper is devoted to the description of the Wavelet Transform Vector Quantization tool realized in the framework of a full development system for a common analysis of selected transform vector quantization algorithms for black & white image coding. The system is quite open and can be freely expanded and modify. Up to this time it has been equipped with three basic transform algorithms: Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT - with four sets of base functions). In the area of vector quantization it is equipped with two different structures of algorithms for codebook design. It certainly has the tools for determining the quality of implemented algorithms and achieved level of data compression. A part of JPEG standard has been used as an origin. The paper includes some interesting new results achieved by using the same environment (vector quantization algorithms) for coding transform coefficients of DWT in comparison to DFT and DCT, not earlier implemented and published.
