摘要
Underwater archaeology is the perspective sphere of investigations in Egypt, the history of which counts more than 5000 years and is closely connected to navigation. The author outlines the history of Egyptian underwater archaeology and summarizes the results of different expeditions working in the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea. Furthermore, he discusses various methods of underwater archaeology and asks how they could be applied in Egypt, while considering present tendencies and prospects for such research in Egyptian waters. These are the main questions raised and examined in this paper.
