Mechanical twinning in stoichiometric lithium niobate single crystal

摘要
Twinning in the stoichiometric LiNbO3 grown by the double crystal Czochraski technique was investigated. Geometry and structure of twin boundary were observed under optical microscope and transmission electron microscope. The twinning observed in LiNbO3 is considered to be a mechanical twinning. This mechanical twin is formed just after crystal growth and has a doubly twinned lamellar shape. It is coherent and its composition plane is one of the {012} planes.
