The title compound, [Co(C9H9N3)(2)(H2O)(2)(SO4)](n), is a one-dimensional coordination polymer formed by sulfate bridges between the Co-II atoms. The Co-II and sulfate S atoms lie on an inversion centre and a twofold rotation axis, respectively. The Co-II atom is coordinated in a slightly deformed octahedral geometry by two O atoms of the sulfate anions, two water molecules and two imidazole N atoms from the N-(2-pyridylmethyl) imidazole ligands, with the pyridyl groups uncoordinated.
