Lithium intoxication

A case of a lethal lithium intoxication and its problems and consequences are presented and discussed. According to the increasing amount of medical treatment of patients having psychiatric disorders, the risk of distreatment or side effects of special concepts of therapy will increase as well. Intoxications by treatment with lithium are rather seldom but they do happen. Therefore we discuss the possibilities to prevent further damage from patients, who might be intoxicated with a certain amount of lithium, but who might not be symptomatic.
