History of the technical structure of the AS

Several changes have occurred over the last 40 years that lead to the present structure of four operating departments (ODs) and 18 technical committees (TCs) of the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS). From the original 14 TCs, seven have been active and remain unchanged. Six TCs have either become as subcommittee or as another TC with another name. These are Corrosion and Cathodic Protection, Electric Process Heating, Industrial and Commercial Power Systems TC, Electric Space Heating and Air Conditioning, Applied Automation and Static Power Converter. These changes have been an attempt of the IAS in keeping its structure relevant to the needs of the industry and the Society's membership.
