Effect of B4C on Mechanical Properties and Microstructure of ZrB2-SiC Based Ceramics

摘要
ZrB2-SiC-B4C was prepared by Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) process at 1700 degrees C. The effect of B4C content on the mechanical properties and microstructure of ZrB2-SiC based ceramics was studied. The results show that compared with materials with 3%wtB(4)C, the high-temperature strength of the materials with 5wt%B4C is higher. The relative density is about 95% for all of the materials. Fracture toughness increases when B4C is added.
