摘要
Physiological condition monitoring is an indispensable part of comatose patient treatment. Unfortunately, the bedside monitor, a tool which is commonly used to detect the patients' vital sign is only readable by medical officers and need to be observed at a close distance. This research focuses on the development of a system which enables comatose patients' family to read the vital signs effortlessly without having to be continually around the patients who are hospitalized in intensive care units (ICU). The system monitors the number of heartbeats, respiratory rate, and detects eyelid opening using pulse sensor, thermistor and Infrared Light Emitting Diode (ER LED) respectively. All data acquired from the sensors are sent to the database and displayed on Android devices. A special notification is given to family members as well as medical officers when an anomalous condition is detected. From experiments, it can be concluded that the system can monitor patients' physiological condition and send a notification when abnormal ailment happen with 94% accuracy.
